Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares made the Semi-Finals on the clay of Monte Carlo before losing to Dutch pair Wesley Koolhof and Robin Haase.

The tournament’s third seeds may be disappointed by their loss in the semis, but this represents their best showing in a Masters series event this season.

They started their week with a closely-fought win over Murray’s Davis Cup partner Dominic Inglot and Rohan Bopanna, winning the final set tie-break 13-11.

Another final set tie-break took the Scottish-Brazilian duo past Ivan Dodig and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, winning it 7-6, 6-7, 10-8.

Their quarter-final match was a bit more straightforward, beating Diego Schwartzman and Joao Sousa in straight sets.

They would lose the semi-final in straight sets to Koolhof and Haase, who would go on to lose the final to Croatian duo Nikola Metkic and Franko Skugor.

Murray wasn’t the only Scot in Monte Carlo. Cameron Norrie picked two impressive victories before losing to the Italian Lorenzo Sonego.

In his first-round match, Norrie defeated Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in straight sets.

While in the following round, Norrie’s opponent was Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics and again the Scot won in straight sets.

A straight sets loss to Sonego in the last 16 shouldn’t negate a positive week for Norrie, who hadn’t played a competitive match on clay until last February.

With his week in Monte Carlo, Norrie has moved to his highest career ranking, 45 in the world.

The tournament was won by Fabio Fognini, beating Dusan Lajovic in the final for his first Masters 1000 title.

Jonny O’Mara and his partner Luke Bambridge were runners-up in Sarasota, Florida after losing to Paolo Lorenzo and Martin Cuevas in the final.

Their first round encounter against Britain’s James Ward and America’s Tennys Sandgren went to a third set tie-break, which O’Mara and Bambridge won 10-6.

Their quarter and semi final matches were both won in straight sets.

The final was a closely fought contest with both sets going to tie-break, both of which won by Lorenzo and Cuevas.

This was the British pair’s third final of the season, but they are still without a title to their name.

Both Murray and Norrie move onto Barcelona next week, while O’Mara is scheduled to play in Budapest with his partner Luke Bambridge.
